My Go-To Places

Alright, so ya’ll are always asking me where I like to go for this and that. So I’m putting a list together of all the places I go to when I’m in the mood for something specific. Check out my Rhode Island go-to-spots below:
African Food
I find myself at this one Liberian spot almost once a week. When I’m in a hunch and forgot to bring lunch, this place is a quick in and out for delicious food. My go-to is the Palm Butter and White Rice, with an extra side of pepper sauce. You can find Deddeh’s Kitchen in the Southside of Providence, RI.
Bahn Mi
– Hands down the best in the state, Asian Bakery, 310 Broad St, Providence, RI 02907. They have that flaky baguette and their pate is fire. My go to order is the BBQ beef with extra jalapenos. The drunken noodles here are also fire.
Cafe
I can’t pick just one for this one. I have Latina-owned two cafes that I alternate depending on my mood. If I’m in work-mode and want to work on my laptop unbothered with my headphones on and sip on a sweet lil ‘Iced Cafe Bombon,’ I’m going to Cafe Ava in Cranston, RI. My other spot is Bom Cafe, in Providence, RI. This place is beautiful and spacious, plenty of seating and outlets for plugging in your computer. When I’m hungry and able to socialize, I’ll come here for an iced coffee or refresher and lunch. My go-to order there is the Steak & Cheese, the bread has a nice crust on the outside and the meat is tasty with the chimichurri spread over it.
Cajun Seafood boil
This place has a delicious cajun sauce that they toss their seafood in, Crazy Crab, in Providence. I always go with the Crazy Crab Special Sauce, Spicy heat level. Choose the seafood of your liking to throw in that bag-I usually go with head-on shrimp, black mussels, and clams.
Cocktails
The District is a energetic black-owned restaurant near downtown, Providence. This place is great for eats and cocktails. The staff there are very friendly and personable!
Another good spot is Clementine. Small and cozy, with an intimate vibe. This is perfect for a date or solo.
Pho/Kathiew
– This place I’ve recently been there a lot for authentic Khmer (Cambodian) food. They have hot food ready for take out or you can order off their menu. Their broth was very hearty, with a variety of meat options available. And best of all, they serve it up with Chakwuy (Chinese Doughnut). Check out this small mom and pop shop called, Chamnan Asian Kitchen, in Providence.
Tacos
– So I have two places that are extremely different, but both bomb. For authentic Mexican tacos, I go to Dolores, in Providence. The juicy slow-braised Pork Belly tacos have been my favorite for the past 8 years since they served them at El Rancho Grande. Served over hand pressed tortillas topped with pickled jalapeños, radish, and carrots, You won’t be disappointed.
When I’m in the mood for quick, Americanized tacos, I hit up California Taco Shop on Plainfield St., Providence. This is the only place that I’ll order hard tacos from. My order: Charro or Al Pastor, Hard Supreme tacos with every thing (Lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream).
Wings
D’s Spot in Providence is my safest bet for chicken wings. They have a lot of bomb flavors, my favorite flavors there are the Sweet Chilli and Lemon Pepper.
