Cambodian-Style Stir Fry Recipe

Craving something quick, flavorful, and homemade? With one quick stop at the market, you can throw together this Easy A$$ Stir Fry—packed with tender chicken, jalapeños, onions, garlic, and rich savory sauces. Serve it over jasmine rice and you’ve got a comfort meal that hits every time.


Ingredients

For the Base

  • Jasmine rice

For the Stir Fry

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 3 jalapeños, sliced (use more or less depending on heat preference)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Fresh garlic, minced
  • Avocado oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Soy sauce (or Cambodian seasoning sauce)
  • Sweet soy sauce
  • Oyster sauce
  • Chicken powder

Instructions

1. Cook the Rice

  1. Prepare a pot of jasmine rice according to package directions. Set aside.

2. Prep the Ingredients

  1. Slice jalapeños, onion, and mince fresh garlic.
  2. Cut chicken breasts into cubes.

3. Make the Stir Fry

  1. Heat a wok or large pan over high heat and add avocado oil.
  2. Once hot, add sliced onions and sweat them with a pinch of salt.
  3. Add jalapeños and garlic; sauté until the garlic is lightly browned.
  4. Add soy sauce (or seasoning sauce) and stir.
  5. Add in the cubed chicken. Season with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  6. Add chicken powder, more soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, and oyster sauce.
  7. Sauté until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce reaches your desired consistency.

4. Serve

  1. Let the stir fry cool for a minute.
  2. Spoon over a bowl of jasmine rice.
  3. Enjoy!

Tips & Notes

  • For extra heat, leave some jalapeño seeds in.
  • Swap chicken for shrimp, tofu, or thin-sliced beef.
  • Cambodian seasoning sauce adds a deeper, more savory flavor—use it if you can find it.
